Where is the serial number of my Mercury outboard motor located?

The serial number of your outboard motor can be found on the identification plate. This can be found on the bracket, the part with which the outboard motor is hung on the boat. Below is an example of what a Mercury identification plate looks like:

Now that you have the serial number of the outboard motor, you can access the correct spare parts by following the steps below:
1. Access the Mercury system via the link below:

2. In the gray bar at the top you can enter the serial number of your Mercury outboard. The system automatically finds the correct exploded views of your engine. If the exploded views match your engine, skip to step 6.

3. Does nothing show up in the Mercury system based on your serial number? Then go to the following website: www.boats.net/catalog/mercury/outboard

4. Then you choose the horsepower that your Mercury outboard has.

5. You will now see a table with two columns, namely 2-stroke and 4-stroke. Below that are different serial number ranges. Choose the serial number range that includes the serial number of your outboard motor and you will arrive at the exploded views of the outboard motor.

To be sure that you have found the correct exploded views of the outboard motor, it is recommended to compare the cowling / engine cover and the gearcase / lower casing with the exploded views.

6. The exploded views of all sections of the outboard motor are shown. Choose the section of the outboard motor for which you need spare parts.

7. The exploded view of this section with all associated spare parts numbered will now appear. This numbering can be found in the table to the right of the exploded view. This table lists the original Mercury part numbers, the quantity required and the description of the spare parts.

8. The correct Mercury part numbers have now been found. You can copy the part numbers and then enter them in the search bar of our webshop.

9. If you have done the above correctly and we can supply the spare part then it will come up now. Click on the spare part and see if the found part number is shown in the description. If so, this is the spare part you need.
